DACS Board Meeting Minutes, Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018

The meeting was called to order at 7:08pm by the DACS President, Jim Scheef.
In attendance were Board members: Richard Corzo, Dick Gingras, Bert Goff, Mike Kaltschnee, and Jim Scheef (President). David Green and Andy Woodruff were not present. The minutes were taken by Richard Teasdale.
(Names in italics denote responsibilities for actions.)

  • The Minutes of the 9/5/2018 Board Meeting were accepted.

Reports

  • Treasurer’s Report:
    • Bert recapped the highlights of his written report. As of 9/30, the remaining balance of general funds was $375.60.
    • One of the few outstanding issues remaining is whether any fees will be due to the Connecticut Secretary of State. Bert will determine this shortly and make any required payment.
    • Bert will close the Amazon Smile account.
    • Bert expected that all outstanding issues would be resolved during October.
    • A motion was proposed and carried unanimously, to cover the cost of award plaques for highly deserving members of DACS (Charlie Bovaird, Marc Cohen, Dick Gingras, Allan Ostergren, and Annette Van Ommeren).
  • Webmaster’s Report:
    • Richard reported that a Sitelock scan claimed to have found malware on the website, but his attempt to obtain further information was met with no reply.
    • Andy will serve as webmaster for October.
    • The status of remaining DACS e-mail addresses was discussed.
    • Mike reported that he is working to hire a website maintenance service for the Hackerspace’s website; he plans for the same company to support the DACS website also.
    • Richard has submitted to APCUG the DACS newsletters requested for their 2018 newsletter contest.

Old Business

  • Formal Steps to dissolve DACS:
    • Mike stated that he would contact the lawyer immediately about the tasks listed in Jim’s 4/6/2018 e-mail.
    • A motion to authorize Jim and Bert to formally shut down the DACS corporation after all necessary tasks have been completed, was proposed and carried unanimously.
    • Mike will work with a contact (Chris Bozak) at the Danbury News-Times to get an article about the DACS transition published.
    • A motion was proposed and carried unanimously, that the funds remaining in the general account at the time of closing the DACS corporation, be donated to Voice for Joanie.
  • Programs:
    • November: Mike is planning for three speakers to each give a short presentation about a technology-related topic, including one about Blockchain.
  • Cleanup of the Resource Center (RC):
    • It was agreed that key fobs for Ives Manor should be returned to the building manager.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:37 pm.
